With the release of beta 5 of Firefox 3.6, I decided that the willy old fox deserved another try. But being a Chrome user for months now, the sheer number of toolbars enabled by default in Firefox looked like a criminal wastage of screen space!
So I set up looking for addons which would help me trim down the bloated UI of Firefox, and give it a minimalistic as well as a better look that it has.
This is how my Firefox looks at the moment -
You might argue that since we are going for the Chrome look, the tab bar needs to be above the navigation bar. You can move the tabs bar to the top, but I didn't like that look much.
Here is the list of Addons I used to achieve this look (I have removed a few Add-ons from the old list & added a few new ones. Firefox looks much better now! Still trying to see how I can update the screenshots in this post, otherwise Will create a new post with the updated screenshots) -
1. HideCaption -

2. Locationbar² - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4014
3. Fission - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1951
4. Tab Progress Bar - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14644
5. URL Tooltip - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12015
To get this look, I used the Strata40 Theme along with its companion StrataBuddy addon.
Strata40 - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14284
StrataBuddy - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14762
In StrataBuddy options, You get to choose between the different looks. The one I have opted for is the Aero Glass one.
Also, I have disabled the Menu Bar as well as the Status Bar, and moved the Bookmarks Toolbar Items to the Navigation bar, which let me disable the Bookmarks Bar too.
There are a lot more changes you get make to this look, but this is the one I went with for now.
